Hi guys,
This is an awesome website and i'm thankful for all the tutorials posted. I'm still new to modelling and texturing and I need some help.
I'm trying to texture a mountain like this:
Just like it looks in Wind Waker Outset Island.
I can tell that i'ts just one pattern repeating itself around the whole mountain or terrain. I've tried to do it, but I cant seem to get it right.
Can anyone please guide me on how I can do something like this.
I have my mountain texture already I just need some help on how to wrap it around repeating like this.
PLEASE I really need the help.
Thanks

You probably want to read up on: hand painted textures, creating tiling, seamless textures, and UV-unwrapping.
I just don't know how I would go about UV'ing something like this. Do I UV each face individually?
Basically when you scale the unwrap over the normalized 0-1 range in UV coordiates it starts to tile.
If it's a bunch of connected cliffs I'd suggest a cylindrical unwrap to get all the faces connected and in a big line, then scaling up so that only 1 face sits in the 0-1 range, then adjusting the verts of other faces in the line to add variation. It would probably be easiest to start with an already unwrapped primitive cylinder as your base geometry, then deforming the geo and uv when you move verts in 3d space.
What process would you suggest I take when I'm modelling the mountain. If I add the texture first and then extrude, the pattern would repeat.
What do you think?
