Hey guys. I am currently taking an Environment class part of Robotpencil's mentorship with Kalen. I am going to be working on creating a Moba map so I thought I start a thread here to show my process.
It's looking awesome so far! def have the LoL feel to it, I'm just wondering what area this could be in the map? are you going to design a classic trilane for a 5v5 map? or a new game mode? Looking forward to see what comes up man!
Love the style of the concepts so far, chunky hand painted stylised win , with really great atmospheric gloomy colours as well. Can't wait to see your progress with this!
This is beautiful ! Do you like paint the assets on your assets sheet and place them on your final drawing after or did you just took them after to place them individually ?

Yeah, Kalen is pretty chill and a great mentor as well. For the class, we did the main illustration first and then break it up into call outs, so modelers would understand what is in the content. While polishing up the pieces, some of them could have been better so I made some edits. Since the callouts are a bit different from the props in the illustration, I have to go back and tweak a few things. I still need to polish the main piece to get it to the quality of the statue.
Reminds me a lot of Jen Zee's work color-wise, which I think is a really great thing! I like the shapes of all of the hard objects, but the top two trees feel a bit odd design-wise with the branches all coming from the same spot. In real life, branches usually are spaced out a bit more.
