I found someone with a similar problem as mine but it did not solve my issue, so I apologize in advance if this has been covered before. I rendered to texture a height map in 3ds max for this ground plane and regardless of how much geometry and/or tessellation I have applied to the mesh I'm still getting some triangle like tearing in between the stones on the side and underneath the ground plane itself. I tried slightly blurring the height map as I thought maybe it had something to do with the sharp transition between tones on the height map itself, no dice though. Can this issue be resolved? Thanks

Also, you could try parallax mapping instead, swap the normal map model to parallax.
