Does anyone know of any MEL based scripts to achieve something similar to the placement tool in the latest version of 3DS Max or the Maya script below but in Maya LT?
are normal constraints available in LT? if yes, you could use the live surface feature (magnet) to place the object and the normal constraint for the orientation. Having oriented placement with the Live tool, would be cool, though.
Another option would be the snap together tool, if thats available in LT. I just discovered thst it work with multiple selections (select some objs., select placed object LAST) and you get a blue arrow, where the obj is being placed.

Thanks! That's available in LT indeed but unfortunately it isn't a very interactive or fluid method.
