Hi guys I recently moved to London and want to expand my 3d art skills/career by getting myself involved with a community and adding a social element to my learning. I'm a much better socialiser in physical format than in forum threads so having someone to learn from and just chat about 3d art with in a bar or cafe would be a great boost to that process. I am currently working as a graphic designer/illustrator and will be making an attempt within the next few months to take the gamble, use up my savings and work on a portfolio. I use Autodesk Maya and Mudbox and intend to learn Vray for my portfolio. My work so far is somewhat basic and there's plenty of room to learn. If you're someone who's up for a laugh and a casual hangout after work please get in touch. Or if you know of some group VFX, Games, 3d events coming up please let me know. Thanks!

dont do that. keep your job and learn on your off time. London is a very expensive city and not having a job to work on folio ( that you can do when you get home ) is a bad call imo.
Also , i understand that you like a more physical interaction to be around people with likemind , but if you want to learn and become better this forum is a way to go. But doesnt hurt to search for groups like you wrote, just dont quit your job !!
Good luck man !
Also, check out The Loading Bar in central- usually a lot of gaming events there
