Have been working on this Viking project for a Uni hand in, would love to get some feedback on what people think it might be missing or what could be improved.
Hi Lorcs! Looks really promising. A quick note; most folks here use imgur to post their photos, since you can embed a BB code and show larger images instead of clicking on thumbnails.
good work so far. I like the interior of the house in the video. Overall town looks a bit empty in places though. Are you going to focus on a specific area to add detail? Because, right now, apart from adding more props, I can only suggest introducing some irregularity into the existing buildings/structures. You could add some slight random rotation to certain parts (like the lamps, etc.), just as an idea.
Is this just for a portfolio piece? As in, this isn't going to be run through real time in a shipped game?
If this is just for personal demonstration, I'd have some advice on how to give your environment and assets more "pop". Right now, everything seems really uniform in terms of texture.
Thanks for all the suggestions, I have just under a month to get the level completed for hand in so I think ill focus on getting the lighting and textures sorted
Sorry, I got back to this a bit late. Since this is just for a fly through, I recommend using the paint brush to add additional detail to your textures. I highly recommend incorporating this into your materials, as you can paint detailed texture information wherever you want.
Here is a good free tutorial if you need it: [ame]www.youtube.com/watch?v=E72ZLtbTXD8&index=4&list=PLx_AmQSuQ7Mu-l1mCbX_IHN5yns7WtKpl[/ame]
In themselves, your textures already look great. However, far away they look very uniform, mainly your dirt, grass and stone roofing. Vertex paint should help you to break up that uniformity by painting tileable dirt, grunge and other stuff where your textures repeat.
