Original Post:
Hi all,
We're looking to recruit some contract environment artists at Rebellion Runcorn. Here's all the details with a link to the application page at the bottom. We look forward to hearing from you!
Vacancy:
More 3D Environment Artists are needed at Rebellion Runcorn, to work on some of Rebellions best-selling IP for 2 brand-new unannounced titles on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and PC. This is a unique opportunity to work for a close-knit team at our satellite studio close to Liverpool.
You will need to be passionate about creating spectacular and convincing environments for games, talented and highly-motivated. A genuine interest in playing games is essential, especially the first and third-person shooters which the studio specialises in.
This is a full-time role based in-house at our Runcorn studio, on an initial 6-12 months employed contract basis (not freelance or agency). You must be able to legally work in the UK.
Experience:
We would prefer at least 1 year of professional games environment art experience, preferably including lighting as well as modelling and texturing, but we are open to a range of experience, from juniors to seniors, and responsibilities can be adjusted accordingly. Any experience of working on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will be an advantage.
Please include a link to your portfolio of examples demonstrating outstanding visual and technical ability, high-resolution modelling in Maya/Max and/or Z-brush, and normal mapped game environments.
Responsibilities:
Work with the design team to create, model and texture high fidelity 3D game environments for Rebellion games
Create artwork to the highest visual quality whilst working efficiently to time and memory budgets
Work to a functional and aesthetic brief, within technical constraints
Be responsive to deadlines and work well under pressure
Work effectively and prioritise own tasks
Collaborate productively within a multi-disciplined team environment, liaising effectively with development staff in both Runcorn and Oxford
Skills:
Expert ability with Maya or 3D Studio Max and Adobe Photoshop
Create normal maps using Maya/Max, Photoshop, ZBrush or CrazyBump
First-class texture creation skills including a comprehensive knowledge of multi-layered material/shader effects
Any experience with PBR rendering systems and PBR material creation (Quixel or Substance) is an advantage
Model and texture both high and low polygon environments, including terrain, buildings and props
Strong technical understanding of console limitations and knowledge of efficient artwork techniques
Strong UV mapping skills with efficient layouts
Strong understanding of form, composition, colour and light in environments and architecture
Ideally able to demonstrate understanding of real-time lighting and HDR techniques and their application in games. Understanding of particle systems would also be an advantage
Ability to translate concept and reference artwork into 3D game assets
Good communication skills, willingness to accept and follow direction
