Hello all, my names ben, im 38 and took a big break from art for many years because of non art related work and various other things, starting to get back into the swing of things these days though. Also im mostly self taught, dropped out of the art courses that i signed up for many moons ago and didnt learn that much while i was studying (entirely my fault sadly).
I have been working on tonal stuff for the last year or so and have also been working with traditional and water based oils to work on colour/hue etc. Hoping i can get back to digital art very soon because i find it really hard to paint anything with out corel painters blenders these days
.
Critiques are welcome but generally ive usually worked out whats wrong with a picture before ive uploaded it ( or finished it for that matter, which is why a lot of my stuff tends to be half finished, i tend to not like most of my stuff if im honest ) or at least ive spotted the more obvious anatomical errors. I tend to be not very good at composition and have basically have no skill when it comes to perspective etc. ive been trying to free up the way im sketching of late in order to enable me to try and get some movement or dynamism into my work but generally my attempts at that have been extremley pants and not worth showing.

these are some of the afformentioned tonal studies. they were scanned with a really cheap scanner, they look a lot better irl if im honest. Done on some random paper that i cant remember the specs for with staedler mars lumo.
hopefully i can save up enough for corel soon, and then maybe i can get around to upgrading from a wacom sapphire
