Thought this was pretty neat.
Have you guys ever used beer as way to spark up an idea?
Because I will openly admit I'm a pretty avid coffee drinker on top of plenty of H20.
IT's more like caffeine vs alcohol, you could replace either drink with one of your own choice.
I have definitely mixed and matched with these! I'll swap out for energy drinks and sometimes liquor. Though I haven't done much creative work using liquor.
In my experience, any positive effects of beer on doing art are outweighed by the loss of focus and lethargy that come with it.
I definitely find this to be the case as well, at least personally. I have a very hard time getting any work done or doing things like watching movies and playing games if I've had a drink or two.
That said, if you can write down a few ideas or something on a notepad after you've had a couple of drinks, you may find that they're at least good starting points for something good.

I'm the same, even just one beer I lose all focus... but I'm a lightweight lol. If I need to come up with an idea I normally go for a walk or go somewhere quiet.
Currently I just down coffee to stay up working past midnight and then drink some apple ale to play counter-strike and help fall asleep for a few hours, wooo healthy life
They invented a brush type device that takes care of that...
Besides, water does nothing to keep you alert or wake you up. It's just a more natural option.
True that on the brushing device! And I do have to say I think water consumption is definitely important with all this! I think water helps balance out the caffeine and alcohol on both accounts. Either from getting wicked caffeine headaches or getting all sorts of intoxicated.

You could try Tea! Chai tea is the bomb! And as ZacD said below, you could swap out either thing or anything.
right? some brews would make every brain storming meeting more creative!

If anything, pair either of those up with some buddies then let the ideas flow!
Though i have had a couple encounters with the ballmer peak when doing some late night programming and the results did not disappoint.
Exactly, everyone knows the way to get great ideas is through meditation and hard drugs!
back in college I have definitely used that method to get some of my games made. I had no idea that there was a name for that!

As Jackablade said, usually I have coffee stout and instantly think:
"This is delicious. I need more coffee stout".
