Hey guys. I'm currently working on a school assignment in which we were asked to create a hero prop and surround it in a interior environment for showcasing. I decided to build the environment first, and then focus my real time on the prop. The hero prop i chose is a large old fashioned telescope.
We were given a choice to build in UE4 or UDK, i chose UDK simply because my home computer cannot run EU4 smoothly and hassle free.
So heres what i have so far. Theres clear use of repition in the props because i wanted to build the environment quickly. Because i am inexperienced with UDK i took a rather unorthodox approach to this project, working on little bits at a time, jumping from texture to texture. I did this because im not familiar with material editor, so i might make a diffuse for a texture then come back down the road and make its spec map, etc. I made sure that everything is saved and organized, so i can change anything i need to quickly, thats where your guys feedback would help. Im still blocking in things and making a lot of changes. So far i'd say my biggest troubles are materials and lighting, but any advice would be surely appreciated.
I feel like this scene should be a darker feel over all, also I noticed that your (telephone's)? wires are very low geo. In todays age geo doesnt matter that much so go to town, plus if its baked you could make it a thousand times better.
