warhammer collectors please help:

I'm currently modeling a dreadnought from the raven guards and I've been searching like crazy online for a view of this flag from the back and the sides:



If anyone knows where I can find the images or has this and could upload some pictures it would really help me out.

Is there anything that says the banner back is a mirror image of the front flag face?

I have that miniature somewhere in the garage but digging it out will be a nightmare. Your safest bet for modeling it would just be to make the pole itself symmetrical, and have the flag draped on one side.

yup what Gir said, you can see the impression of the banner pole through the flag but it only looks like the pole runs through the flag cos of the joys of plastics moulding. The loops at the top will run around the crossbar, but the flag drapes only to the front.

haha I understand, I have no clue if it's mirrored or not all my google and flickr searches have shown up nothing.

AFAIK the model is a smooth flag, whether the image is mirrored is the decision of the person painting it.

I had a poke about while I was procrastinating from school work. Didn't find anything particularly useful, but there are a bunch of youtube videos of people putting together Warhammer models which might be a good bet if you really feel like you can't ust extrapolate from what you have.

Well I could but I'm going for as close to accuracy that I can get, making that part up would defeat the purpose.

I don't own the miniature, but I do know it. The banner is just flat on the reverse and you're not missing out on anything you can't extrapolate from what you've already seen.

also this, this is what working in a studio is like. 9 times out of 10 I get a single action pose, no orthos. It's expected that I can figure out what to make on the backside.

fuck this thread... i just looked on the GW site and saw that they've redone a whoooole load of warhammer fantasy models.

and now i'm poor.

but at least i have a bloodthirster coming =/

This is a Forgeworld version of the model. Not sure whether that means it replaces an existing model in the standard 40k range, but it's probably why it looks different to the older version.

You actually bought the £70 plastic Bloodthirster ?

I'm not sure I'd invest in any of their stuff at the moment, Games Workshop are clearly not long for this world.

Man, I'm so divivded on Warhammer designs.
Is it just me, or most of them look incredibly bad-ass, but alot of them are extremely simplistic and don't translate well to detailed models.

Dreadnaughts are pretty cool, though .

Dreadnaughts are pretty cool, though .

Warhammer designs are definitely better suited for an RTS type game and not so much a 1st or 3rd person shooter.

Disagree. The basic miniatures may not always be massively embellished, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be - just look at the core Space Marine plastics versus the artwork that accompanies them.

simplification of the plastics is just a necessity due to the nature of the production process, forgeworld stuff is generally more detailed cos they do short run resin production, ....and charge accordingly!

make stuff based on the art, not the miniatures I say.
