Starting on a small project that I hope I can expand into something larger. I really like the look and aesthetics of the Sky Temple battleground from Heroes of the Storm and I wanted to see if I could turn that into an environment that feels like it could be inside the map.
For now, I've focused myself to a small area of the map and started modeling a small scene that fits in there. I'd like to nail down the modeling and texturing style then move forward with more assets once I have that down.
What I've started with a small building, an obelisk, a pillar, and a well. I've arrange them into what looks like a decent angle and position that fits into the map. The next step for me is to get these into zBrush and get sculpting into the finer details. Then I'll get into what'll be the hardest part of the project, getting down the texturing style and having it match with what's already in game.
Personal issues with the project; I'm not sure if I exaggerated my models enough. Maybe that's the wrong word, but I don't think they capture the right feel but maybe that's just because they're gray. As well, if there was one model I didn't like, it's the well. It's around 900 polys but to me it seems to be the least interesting. For example, the building is around 1100 but I feel like it's so much more interesting.
Any help and criticism is appreciated! Just looking for what people think.
