Hi guys! Super awesome that there's now an animation thread on polycount! I'm going to be posting up my work here as it comes, I'd love any feedback or critique. Some of the things I post here might not be directly games related, but more cinematic dialogue practice? I hope that's okay. :poly124:
I've currently been working on the Comicon 2015 Competition. There's just over a week left, and this is how far I've managed to get:
That reel looks great! It's good fun, and I'd like to see more on that competition piece.
FYI just delete 'www.vimeo.com/' from your post. If you want to embed a vimeo video just have the code number in between the vv's. Stefan posted some info on it here: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=150407
Great start on that animation for the contest!! looking forward to see moar! my notes could be if that girl runnig, the running is cool, but feels loopy, mybe adding some dodging effect from the thing the other girl is trowing? same for that part that she is flying?.. just ideas.. Keep up the hard work bud!
@petehawk - aw thank you! I'm at the stage to call the competition piece finished - unfortunately my rigging skills are limiting how far i can really take the animation. But i'll post it up anyway! And thanks for posting up about the vimeo stuff, seems to be working now .
@andyvargas - Thanks so much! It's been really tough. I love the suggestion of having her dodge, but i don't think i'll have time to put in in unfortunately .
Here's something I threw out because I needed a break from Comicon
End of the week update! I've been working on some pug animations for a friend of mine, still pretty rough, but getting there! I've also been creating a tutorial on how to do walk cycles, which you can see with the mery rig. She turned out looking a lot angrier than i thought haha! Might have to tone that down a bit.
(I understand that there are a lot of people who are more talented than me, but I thought i could help anyone starting out/have some helpful hints). I'll post that up when it's all finished . Feel free to crit these, I'm always open to suggestions!

The Mery Walk from the tutorials I've been creating:
(WIP - really needs smoothing out, that arm is bothering me XD)
Comicon is all submitted now too.. I'll post that up when i get the result
Still pretty rough but better! Spent most of tonight messing around with making a baseball bat rig haha! There's still quiet a few problems with the arms, and it looks too fast - although gifs have a way of making things seem faster than they are haha! I'll post up a sync sketch so you guys can crit if you want!
Update on the tutorial walk i'm working on, any feedback would be great. The gif doesn't quiet show a true representation of it... Seems to be skipping the last frame and it might be sped up~? Either way here it is!
@heboltz3 - Glad you're excited for it! I'll definitely post up (if i'm allowed) when i get a chance, but unfortunately it's going to be agessss from now. Either way, hope the game lives up to the expectations, we're certainly working hard on it!
Please note: the gif seems to be slightly sped up and missing a frame, i'll post up a video for a truer representation for feedback!
Just wanted to share - this is the project I've been working on at Creative Assembly for the past year, just got announced today ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7i4d3ignBNQ
So cool, really happy for you this is smoking :smokin: can not wait to see your new reel one day!
I love the Pug animation but do the back paws on a dog bend that much? or is it creative license
Hi Guys!
I've started to create a tutorial on how to make a basic walk cycle. I'd also love to do a section where I give feedback on other peoples work, so if you'd like your work critiqued, send it in to: elyse@gymer.co.uk with the subject "critique"!
Hi guys! It's been a really long time since I posted on here and the animation section has really grown! I'd be very grateful to get some feedback on my work. I've been working on a cinematics piece, and I could use a fresh pair of eyes to rip it apart . Hi guys! I've been working on this animation for a while and I'm running out of ideas. Thanks in advance! You can see it here: https://youtu.be/C-TeKuQzyXI or draw/comment all over it here: http://syncsketch.com/playground/d97b5ecce015482db9ba0f9e987be2f8#83574

Totally will be bringing me back to those days of dice rolls, soda, chips, heavy metal and Chaos in my friends basement.
When you can, you should totally share more!
