Right-o, can't find an entirely appropriate thread so I figured it was worth just posting a new one for my specific issue. Sorry if I overlooked something!
So, every time I open Painter, I get this error:
Which I would usually just sort of ignore, only I can't help but notice that is in fact not my main GPU. I run a GTX 970. I've gone through and tried to force it, didn't seem to work, and trying to proceed anyway tends to lead to lag and crashes/general instability.
Any ideas/fixes? Or if not, anything I can do to help you guys get more info on why this is happening? Thanks in advance.

My HDMI for my monitor wasn't plugged into the GPU, it was plugged into the motherboard port, and that spontaneously became an issue for Nvidia CPanel today. So I switched the port I was using, and fixed two problems at once it appears, because I opened Painter and got told my 970 was using an out of date driver! Which I'm sure it is. Much better.
I mean... Seems strange to me, but at least it works now...? So that's cool.
I believe you need to have your monitor plugged in the right port to be able to run properly your application as windows rely on that to decide which GPU to use.
