hello!

I am working on a project that will require an immense amount of foliage. Ive been looking at the new SpeedTree for Unity 5 offering and it is really nice, but I am wondering a few things.

It seems like the untiy offering is desighned to create one single tree, not an entire forest. this is not exactly what I want. I want to grow trees around everything, e.g. have branches going through windows in a ruined building.

so far the only way I can think to achieve the control i desire is to hand model each tree, but i'd like to avoid that.

bassically can i make more than 1 tree in speedtree (for unity) or is that restricted to the cinema versions? or are there some good foliage generators for modo?

I would hand model a few and make it a modular set, a scene made up of entirely unique trees would be terribly annoying to make without something like scan data.

Well, yes and no. You should be able to create multiple trees in SpeedTree, but it will export as a single asset. However, if you needed to say, model several trees growing around a house, you could import the house into speed tree, model three trees around it then export those trees. But it would still export as a single asset. Now, if you're looking to basically create a lot of assets quickly you can use randomize. This creates decent looking trees that then need to be edited by hand. The nature of the random button is that it shuffles the math, many times it comes out nice looking, but it might have some branches that need to be moved etc. Depends on your settings. It's easier than redoing every single tree. If you have more questions post over at the SpeedTree forum, they can give more in depth explanations. IKsFcn9.png
