As an experienced FX Technical Artist at Oculus, youll be at the forefront of prototyping, producing and shipping virtual reality experiences. As a key member of the content team, you will help solve unique and interesting technical problems while partnering with the art and design teams to explore and implement prototypes that set the bar for VR content inside and outside the company. The ideal candidate shares our passion for VR and gaming and will apply their expertise to developing revolutionary content for the gaming platform of the future.
Responsibilities
- Prototype & execute a variety of realistic and stylized real-time effects (Particles, Rigid Bodies, etc )
- Create all source art required for visual effects content
- Solve for unique issues around building successful real-time effects in a stereo/VR context
- Create and support materials and lighting in Unreal Engine 4
- Document and evangelize best content creation practices for various game engines
- Work with Engineers and other Technical Artists to optimize content for memory and performance
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in game development, preferably in Unreal Engine 3 / 4
- Strong proficiency in standard DCC tools (Maya, Max, Houdini), Photoshop
- Reel/portfolio showing real-time effects work
- Strong communication skills
- Experience with Blueprint in Unreal Engine 4 a plus
- Experience scripting in Python a plus
- Must thrive on ambiguity
