The Emergent Reality Lab at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is looking for a 3D artist to create game-ready human characters for a VR-based educational game.
Project scope:
The project is built in Unity and uses the CAVE virtual reality system. The game is story-driven, with a large amount of interactive dialog. There are eight primary characters we need to model, rig, and animate. Two are partially or mostly complete.
The characters will need to be animated with lipsync audio in Mandarin Chinese, primarily with casual conversation actions - more like cutscene dialog and acting, rather than action / body mechanics shots.
The scope of work for this contract covers character setup including modeling, texturing, and rigging. Bids may be per-character or for the full set of 8 characters.

Our immediate priority is character creation, but if you would like to include animation services in your bid, we would provide the script and recorded dialog.

Character specs:
- Human, present-day, adults
- Naturalistic style
- Flexible poly budget; thinking around 15k - 20k per character
- Setup must be compatible with Unitys Mecanim
- Rig should include animator-friendly hand pose controls
- Face rig should support facial expressions (brows, cheeks, eye shaping, etc) and mouth shapes for lipsync
