I feel like I'm asking this out of a wee bit of desperation.
Mainly because I feel awfully abandonded at times and constantly have to rely on myself because I'm not really close with anyone who does 3D. I've met a few people at THU in 2014 so that was a nice refreshment but that's months ago now and I basically don't feel like I'm good enough to talk to them? I don't know how to explain it.
Is there some sort of groups on skype or facebook where a bunch of people get together and push each other with critique or just talk smack.
I've been wanting to ask this before but I always just delete it so I'm just gonna yolo , squint one eye and hope for the best.

didn't you listen to any of the talks at THU? we all have been where you are now, socially awkward fools with no connections :P
the story has been pretty much the same for almost any speaker i heard.
everyone started once, and mosthad no real community around them when they started.
just post here and be part of the community, connections will come.
besides that, there is a polycount skype chat and maybe this group on facebook

I did go to a lot of talks and I've heard them say those stories , it must have just slipped my mind as I typed the post. Thanks for the reminder though. I mainly just wrote down what they showed and not their individual stories.
Joined the facebook group , gonna have to set up google plus now. Thanks for the links , really appreciate it.
Mathias' (Verhasselt) talk was so close to my own experience, it was crazy.
It gave a great framework to get in touch with people, below, above or on your own level.
