CrownLullaby's attempts at zBrush! [CRITIQUE VERY MUCH WANTED]

Hi everyone! I'm not new to Polycount, but it's been a while since I lurked this forum. I'm getting back into 3D and I'm looking for feedback and critique on what I do so I can improve!

My current project is a sculpt of Jeor Mormont. I'm still in the blockout stage, have only added some wrinkles, but I'm thinking that maybe I haven't got certain proportions / shapes of his face right. Feedback would be very much appreciated!

Hi Crown, very cool choice in portrait. I've done a paintover for you, though it's on your ref. I think these kinds of exercises can help you understand the forms/structure better before you "get into it." I would encourage you to treat the "blockout stage" a little more literally. Actually place blocks/spheres/wedges, or treat the surface as planerly as possible. Really focus on nailing the proportion and structure first, then you can build it up into something more refined. Ignoring this, then you quickly lose sight of your boney landmarks, and anatomical roadmaps.

For portraiture, ALWAYS try to find as close to a perfect profile ref as you can, it is the most important view you can supply yourself with, and will make your life easier.

Anyways, keep pushing yourself, I hope this helps.

Thank you for the paintover! I started from a basemesh I made, not from Dynamesh, so I can just go back a couple of subdivisions and go over it again. I'll keep the paintover next to me when I continue on it tonight, thanks so much!
