Extruding alone a Nurbs curve. Maya 2015

Hello.
Can someone please explain to how to extrude along a Nurbs curve in Maya. All tutorials I have looked at don't seem to work in Maya 2015.
I create the nurbs curve, then put the object and the bottom where I want it to extrude along the curve. But when select them both and hit extrude the geometry end up like this.
