The 2015 CG Student Awards Issues Call for Entries

Sponsored by Autodesk, the CG Student Awards is the largest event for Visual Effects, Feature Animation, and Next-Gen Gaming students. Showcase your skills to top studios from around the world, win one of twenty-five (25) internships and a piece of the $360,000 in prizes.

(4th March, 2015) - Entries for the 2015 CG Student Awards would be accepted through to May 13th, 2015. Owned and produced by CG Student Awards Pty Ltd, and sponsored by Autodesk, the event showcases excellence in computer graphics from students and recent graduates from the world’s leading training facilities. “This is truly an incredible opportunity for students and recent alumni to not only showcase their work to industry experts, but it's simply the best possible way to launch your career in these competitive industries,” declared Andrew McDonald, co-founder of the Awards.

The Awards has six main categories:

• School of the Year

• Student of the Year

• Film of the Year

• Game of the Year

• People’s Choice

• Bootcamp Placements (Internships)

All computer graphics students worldwide that attended an accredited course between January 2014 - May 2015 are eligible to enter.

Examples of suitable courses are Computer Animation, Bachelor of Computer Graphics, Animation and Interactive Media, Game Design and Development, 3D Computer Animation, Digital Effects, Computer Visualisation, Computer Science, Visual Effect (VFX) Courses. All other courses with similar curriculum are deemed suitable.

The judges are looking for any of the following skills, but not limited to: Modeling, Texturing, Rigging, Pre-visualisation, Architectural Visualisation, Animation, Lighting, Compositing, Live Action, Character Animation, Editing, Concept Art, Coding, R&D, Game Design, and Game Development.

The Awards have an extensive list of high profile companies sponsoring the event: 3D Artist, 3D Total, Adobe, Allegorithmic, Autodesk, AWN, Blue Sky Studio, CG Cookie, CG Society, Conceptshare, Digital Tutors, Epic Games, G-Technology, iKinema, Luxion, Next Limit, Nvidia, Pixologic, RebusFarm, Side Effects Software, Siteground, SolidAngle, Stash Media, The Foundry, Tut+, and Wacom.

Leading production studios Animal Logic, Double Negative, Dreamworks India, Framestore, Gameloft, Method Studios, Monolith Studio, MPC, NetherRealm Studio, Ninja Theory, Rebellion, RSP, The Mill, and Weta Digital are also offering twenty-five (25) professional internships throughout Canada, Europe, India, Oceania, and the USA.

Each studio offers slightly different internships, but an internship winner can expect to receive 8-12 weeks professional experience, support and guidance from industry leading experts, a standard intern salary, and an amazing opportunity to network and prove their skills. “I was shocked to find myself among the winners, and it was a truly life changing experience - and honestly, it’s not an overstatement. It was a surreal moment when I got a phone call from Double Negative!” exclaimed Szabolcs Menyhei an internship winner currently working fulltime for Double Negative as an Environment Artist.
