Hey guys!
I'm sorry if theres been a thread posted here before, I'm relatively new to Polycount and I don't know where else to ask.
Anyway, on to the fun stuff.
Is there a way to take a snapshot of half the UV sheet? I use Maya 2015. I'm trying to snapshot a 512 x 1024 UV sheet, but Maya keeps compressing my UVs.
The First Image is my UV layout - and the second the weird "squishing" it is doing - after I set it to my resolution.
Again. I'm sorry if this is simple or already been answered. Google search couldn't save me this time

Hey mate! Thanks for replying!
Yes, I can, thank you very much for the suggestion. I feel quite dumb that the solution is that easy.
I had a bit of a derp moment and didn't really think about why you wanted half your uv template.
If you're trying to make a 2x1 texture then that won't work. You'll have to scale your uvs up (*2) to fill the width of the uv space and then squash the texture in photoshop to 1024x512 for example. Not sure if that's the proper workflow for maya.

Thanks mate, this is exactly what I wanted. Thank you for the help!
Oh. My. God.
How have I not known about this beforehand haha! You sir have changed my life! Thank you for the reply and the great find.
That is kinda my goal with that tool. The native Maya UV tools have been lacking for so long. Autodesk keeps saying "we´ve improved the UV tools" for every new version of Maya since they implemented Unfold3D - but in reality the updates are miniscule at best.
If you have an Autodesk account you can vote for it´s official implementation here:
