I recently started doing my first environment. It's going well but I feel a bit lost when it comes to foliage. I'm doing an overgrown, abandoned train station. I want to include a bunch of weeds, long grass etc. The thing is, I have no idea what to make! Of course, you can see these kind of things in images of actual abandoned places, but I feel it's not easy to get a decent feeling for the structure of the plants.
It's nice to have a good idea of what you are modelling. For the sake of accuracy, and for learning. I was wondering what you all do in terms of foliage. Is there a good website or book? Do you go and take photographs yourself? Or just gleam what you can from photographs of appropriate settings?

This is an example of what I mean. I can see these tall grass like plants, with fluffy parts on the end. Of course I've seen these in real-life, I just can't recall what they are or precisely what they look like. You can't properly make it out in the image either.
