Hey guys, here's a project I'm working on at the minute. One 'hero asset' and lots of beautiful foliage is what I'm mostly focusing on. It's a shot of a freight train going through a forest - nothing too in depth :P
Conor Sheehan made this beautiful concept for the kind of idea I'm aiming for.
And where everything is at the minute in 3D:
High poly here
LP is sitting around 40k.
Terrain, mostly waiting on the canopy of trees etc that will block most of it out and add some real life to the scene.
More to come soon!

Thank you, I made some better images for the train as well, as it's a bit rough just in unreal like that.

Looking into using Substance Painter to texture it. I'd love to do it by hand but I'm vastly inexperienced at texturing to do that.
Cool concept. Making a train in a interesting environment was something I imagined doing too a while ago.
I see your LP is already done. You didn't want any sculpting details?
If you haven't tried either Substance Painter or Quixel Suite yet, I'd recommend trying Quixel first. It's a bit easier to use, IMO. Also produces some great and quick results which you can use or further edit in photoshop to add more detail.
Anyway, here's where I am with it, I haven't quite touched the wheels or the stairs just yet, as you can probably tell :P
This is done in Mudbox/Photoshop - I would like some crit on it as I'm not quite sure if it's good enough.
Quixel is great to get a foundation to work from. Even if it's just something subtle. The nice thing about it is it creates a PSD with layers that you can then go into and manipulate. Or you can just save flat texture maps from it and work from those.
Bottom right as in the area towards the back of the train or more on the black bits beneath the yellow?
And I understand the appeal of quixel - it's super useful don't get me wrong - but I guess this is a way of me getting my head around texturing and/or a little challenge. Thanks for the quick response as well.
As for grey area it hasn't been textured yet obviously.
Gunna have to call it here, I need to focus on the rest of the project. 49.1k triangles.
