Hey, rendered a scene I've been working on and some music was added for a little effect as I don't usually dabble in sound effects for my environments (so far) and thought I may potentially ruin the scene if I started adding crows and wilhelm screams tongue emoticon.

Play with audio and in 1080p for best image :)

"The storm sneaks up on the weary and lost.
Taking their lives as though life had no cost.

I’ve ran to the mountains, to the highest snow tops.
I hope to find shelter, before all hope is lost.

But is this all futile, will this ever stop?
Perhaps it’d be better, if my nightmares just stopped."

wow the scene looks great! the music I'd of expected it to be a bit more epic.
It really reminds me of Skyrim, as there are no pans I'm not sure the piano music suits it best. My personal opinion though

looks very atmospheric, but the music really gives the wrong ambience i have to agree, and the water behaves kinda unnatural, it would have less movement i think. Maybe also some water could drip from the top ? Id also expect the fires to be different at day. Maybe burned out or less strong

I really like how the rocks and all assets are as edgy and harsh as the nature ambiance, reinforcing that unforgiving environment feeling and making it look very painterly

Hey, thanks for the replies. It's been a long while since I've touched anything to do with environments and due to University studies I had a limited amount of time for the scene before I had to go back to real life. This was initially supposed to be just a single camera render of day and night time, chaos vs peace, and thus due to my lack of practice, I felt like creating ambient effects within the scene would potentially ruin it and this was probably the most suitable license-free song that I had found to go along with the context.

I felt that the music conveyed a sense of loss of hope or life due to the harsh environment and the context poem (that was also made on a whim xD) was something to think about whilst watching the video.

Also there is a slight stream of water coming down from the rooftop on to the water, however, I didn't want to block off or distract the viewer from the center scene by blocks of falling water. I'll take a look at playing around with the fire in the near future.

I really appreciate the comments and once my time schedule loosens up a bit, I'll return to this piece and hopefully finish it off.

    Thankyou,

    - Vidas

Looks really cool, but instead of it just being a footnote on the video, I'd be shouting this from the rooftops if I were you:

"Assets are all from Epic's downloadable example projects with most of the particles + materials slightly modified/tweaked."

Most people are going to assume you did all the asset work, and thus, criticize the scene differently than if they knew you didn't do the assets. Also, it's a bit misleading.

Really nice ambiance being created though.

Yeah that's very true, it can be quite misleading indeed. I'll definitely take that into account and will have it written clearly if I use Epic's assets again in the future.

    Thankyou,

I actually really like the music - I think it's fitting

I do agree about the water though - the scale of the waves looks a little off to me

The water waves are actually just ripple particles placed at the center of the rocks (usually way inside the walls) and thus may not look very realistic upon inspection. When I next jump back to the scene, I definitely wanna try out some water shaders and other water effects to see if I can propel the scene forward even more.

    Thankyou,
