Ok so I've been focusing on anatomy recently, past few weeks it was mastering the basics of a male ( I have a sketchbook page for this) and for the female I decided I wanted to do a real character. I love Marvel and I love Siryn (We're both from Ireland and Deadpool loves her, what more can you want?!) and I thought the skin tight suit could show I understand anatomy. I've been working on this for about 4 days now, and I realised I should have a WIP thread about this! (I did post briefly on what are you working on) so I'll dump what I have now, and then keep it updated as I finish up :)

I got a lot of help from polycount forums for this, namely by studying this http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=98115 (THAANKYOU YOU SAVED MEEE) and this http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=98115 I also used a Female Base mesh from wiki polycount.

ON TO SIRYN

(WHY DO YOU NEVER SHOW YOUR BACK SIRYN)

day 1 - this is as far as i got from the base mesh

day 2+3 - Details details details

making sure the curves looked right (exaggerated but not overly so, comic-book-like) pointed her toes a bit for easier animation

zbrush and its eternal crashing. Those useless belts took me way too long

hair sections. I would like to use planes with alphas to make her hair bigger and textured and just use this as a solid base. Figured I'd do that when I have an unwrapped low poly

decided she looked like a lolly pop and made her head smaller.

Ready to paint!!
day 4 - Polypaint
prog7_zps4gujaeoa.png
never painted in Zbrush before, was a little awkward but I think I'll like it. Her eyes look weird. Would it being in engine help this?

Everything so far! base colours down, think I'll move on to the low poly so I can get maps baked out to help make a more detailed texture. I was thinking of cell shading her...although my knowledge of engines is practically non-existent so some advice there would be a great help :)
Sorry for the giant list of images!!! D:

Looks good so far. I like the comic style hair.
It would help to see what you are referencing. Useless belts scream Rob Liefeld. Are you using his drawings as reference? There are way better pictures of her from other artists, and the anatomy won't be so wonky. As it is, the feet look really poor compared to the rest of the body and the face.

Ok so I'm rubbish at updating. I've finally finished her. Truth be told I was frustrated and just wanted to be done with her so I know there are mistakes but it was a learning curve. I had real trouble with the retopo and the posing, but I eventually manhandled her into something acceptable. Made the hair with spline geometry and alphas and rendered in marmoset. and DONE

If you're going to EGX Rezzed you might see her there! I'm going to help represent my university course on the friday and the plan is to have big renders up!!

Congrats on finishing! I think that's a super-important step of the creative process that a lot of people don't get to.

And it looks amazing. This is the first time I've seen this thread and it was nice watching it evolve step by step. The final result is great.

Thankyou that's really encouraging :) Yeah she was a bit of a challenge to finish but it feels so good to say it's done. On to the next project :3
