G36C W.I.P.

Hello,

I'm wanting to start learning how to model weapons for my portfolio but currently I can only get as far as loading my reference images into 3ds MAX. Ive watched some tutorials on how to model fire arms but they all covered simple weapons and don't explain how to get some of the more complex shapes. I am looking for help so eventually I can get more skilled in making firearms and one day melee weapons. I will post progress pics once get a start on the model.

Thank you

Break them down into the parts that are manufactured to make them. For example if you want to model an m4/ ar15 style platform you are going to want to model the lower receiver with one mesh in the scene, the upper receiver with another, the barrel, the stock, hand guard, trigger Etc. all with its own mesh to block in the proportions. Then start on the high poly. Go to youtube and look up model a Kriss vector in maya. I know you are using max and the tools are slightly different but the concept is the same. There are plenty of people showing complex ones in max on YouTube as well.

Did a quick search on YouTube found a series on an fn scar-h.
