I think the edges in your high poly are just too tight and they won't work very well with normal maps. Also, the texture is a bit boring and uniform. Not really sure what material the grip part is supposed to be, either.
Dang Olli, this thing is DOPE! Excellent work. Everything is top notch. I'm curious why you went though the trouble to mill all the inner doodads like the spring that will never be seen on the lowpoly? Exploration?
Nerf Bat Ninja is spot on about the grip.. Im not really happy about how mine turned out though.. It looks really washed out (PBR specular got the best of me there)
@polygoblin, This has been a bit of a weird project... Originally I just made the frame of the gun for fun as a sort of sub-d excercise, but then i kept going, making more and more parts until finally I had almost all of them.. Then I wanted to do a proper PBR piece for once so i just went with what i have and thats the result. If theres one thing ive learned its that more detail isnt always better.. making a proper LP mesh that also bakes well was a nightmare :P
Model looks great but the texture is so plain / has so few details or variation that it holds this back slightly I think. You don't need to make it really damaged or anything but looking at your texture flats, I think a little gloss detail could go a long way.
Ok, so normally I wouldn't ask but with something so beautifully modeled - I hate to insist on seeing wireframes, but damn son that's some serious poly licking good right there...
Or at-least can you describe your workflow for modelling this gun.
Awesome work ... And same here, rusted scrappy is nice, but factory gun are as nice, imo.
And yeah, would love to see more : Are the meshs from the first screencap actually lowpoly ? If yes, I just don't understand how it can look so clean with only 9k. Also, how did you baked and textured it ? Or wireframe and shit mate ! \o/

Only thing that buggers my eye is the texture for the Grip Cover, its looks kinda wierd
This thing turned out sick bro. Killer job.
Franky: You know this is a textured LP right? Normals look great to me for a realistic stab at the gun.
