Disappearing Shadows

Why are my shadows disappearing? First screencap shows shadows from the boarded up windows, but when I move away from them, they disappear.

hm might be your Eye Adaptation. The camera readjusting to the exposure of the inside of the room thus blowing out the shadows in the window. You can adjust this in the World Settings or in Post Process Volume I believe, if the two numbers are equal it disables the effect.
