Hello. I stumbled upon this concept on the web, and though it would be cool to create something similar in 3d.

I got excited about the planet in the background and tried to tackle it first. Then I realized it would be good idea to add at least some rough block-out.
Despite my efforts the planet is still far from looking how I want it. Especially cloud map is unsatisfying. Also I'm excited to make some rocks!

I think it would also benefit from moving the light source a bit more around to the front of the shot, so that you are facing more towards it.
A: So that it matches the concept closer and B: because planets usually look at their most majestic when the light is hitting them at a glancing angle and diffracting through the atmosphere.
Should help your planet look less flat and a bit more interesting.
