This is a thread for my cinematic project called Wild Life.
The scene is split into 3 layers, like a three player splitscreen game.
Scene start peaceful and quiet, with a vibrant atmosphere. A wolf comes through the 2nd panel and a deer is seen grazing in the 3rd panel. The wolf gets a scent and runs off. The atmosphere is tense and then a wolf sillouhette is seen in the back of the 3rd panel and the deer is then attacked. Once the wolfs are nearly done eating, wolf pups are seen scuttling into the 2nd panel, which ends the cinematic.
I have until the first of May to get it done and I'm willing to work nonstop until it is, so keep updated
Were trying to reach this level of quality in engine, but were still unsure on the grading.

Im really unsure on how to go about with fur. I want a realistic a peice I can get with the animals. Heres what I had in mind:
- -Make high poly in ZBrush
- -Make Fibremesh fur coat
- -Make fur planes ontop of retopologised
- -Bake fibremesh and highpoly ontop of mesh and fur planes.
Were just starting on the forest, so there's not much to show, but I'll update when there is.I feel like theres little documentation on next gen animals online, so if there are any suggestions, critisicms, please let us know.
Thanks for reading. :poly122:

need to find a tidy way to blend the fur
thanks guys
Update on where the wolf is at now.
Having problems in UE4 though, since the fur requires transparency, which causes sortings issues. Alot needs to be done texture wise aswell.
All crit is really appreciated
Thanks for reading
Hope this helps. Your work looks super sick so far man. Really interesting project I look forward to seeing it progress.
thanks guys I retextured the face like 4 times, so im really happy you like it
@anglorum
yeah its a real pain isn't it depth peeling in viewport 2.0 is amazing and I'm using it, but unfortunately theres isn't anything similar in ue4 :poly127:
the poly count is at 9000 at the moment, which I'm pretty content with.
some screenshots i failed to upload earlier:
thanks yeah it's a tricky process, which I feel I haven't even finished fully yet. I used fibremesh in zbrush to generate reeally wide planes. I exported that to Maya and then pretty much edited each one by hand a little bit. Let me know if that makes sense or not.
@KustomZero
I haven't started the grass yet, you might be confusing the concept art with a screenshot? :poly124:
A hacky implementation of fur and wind interaction and also an animation run test.
