I'll be throwing my hat into the ring for this one; I'm not an environment artist by trade (FX artist) so I'll be tailoring this more towards the lighting and FX side of things. I'm doing this more to sharpen up my environment skills than to compete but on with the arty things!
Seeing as most people seem to be posting up software lists:
- Maya - for all modelling, UVing, etc.
- Zbrush - Tasty sculpted detail
- Substance Designer - Tileables and possibly sprite generation
- Substance Painter - Asset texturing
- Photoshop - General image editing, colour grading, etc.
- PopcornFX - for all the delicious FX goodness
- UE4 - Engine of choice
I'm still throwing things around with my idea so I'm staying in the blockout phase as long as possible but below are some initial scribbles, ref boards, blockouts, etc. It's about as chaotic on paper as it is in my head so hopefully I'll have something more intelligible for everyone soon!
Cryptic scribbles, I know what they are...honest...
Quick train-doodle of the throne, possible serpent sculpture
Chaotic moodboard of "ooo that looks cool"
Very early blockout of the layout, not too happy with this so will probably change significantly
And some messing around with lights and textures to see if I can work out what I want to do
More updates to come soon!
