Hey everyone, I have been working on an environment and I would really appreciate some feedback/critiques. I am rendering in udk and modeling with maya.
Yes, due to the scale of the environment I have no choice. I can't think of how to balance poly count for a set of rocks that need to cover the cliffs and also have good texture resolution
Sculpt it first, figure out UVs and texture resolution later. Make something that can tile and look into how you can effectively use vertex coloring and other material editor tricks.
You actually just need to pay one time. The subscription is actually for constant updates. You can pay once, it's just you'll be stuck with that version of UE4 until you pay again for a new month. Otherwise, it's yours permanently.

BTW, why are you using UDK instead of UE4?
I don't have enough money to pay $20/month for UE4.
