Hi PC,
I'm working with stylized/handpainted textures at BlueByte, so it's time for some reflections!
Halls of the Divine will be primarily white (Marble/chalk?) and gold, with some stark value contrasts from lighting - hopefully.
Im new in MODO
Im new in Substance
Im new in Unreal 4,
So that's the 3 packages I will use to attempt this project!
The first 3 blockouts.

Not at all feeling it atm.
Will get rid of the big gold slabs on the base of the pillars, and take a look at the overall idea tomorrow
Also added some basic shading and lighting.
I dont expect it to be this reflective, but no need to tweak that now.
As I realized the render would take way too long for me to stay up and post it, I instead uploaded this WIP render.
I will render it properly over night, and post the finished render tomorrow.
Never understood the meme ^^'

If it's a way of saying it looks super ridiculous, can you help me point out why? Whimsical wasn't my intention The level of reflections is not intended,I want them less.
Stupid me.. Now I get it, was a good joke, sorry I missed it
Maybe I can sneak one in, somewhere in the final runes
Generaly this is pretty solid so far.
Wish you good luck.
Cheers!
It is always nice to hear your comments on things
I like the color as well, but I think the overall comp/layout/bigger shapes are too boring. I will do something about that in coming sessions.
About the reflections, I will probably go for something between this and the last one (This just renders 20 times faster)
For example, These flat "wings" should probably bulge out or something. Right now it feels a bit trapped. I want the opposite!
Have done no work on the throne itself. Should probably do that as well :O
So what kind of material do you plan to use for the white part? Marble? Won't the entire scene be too reflective? If I understand it correctly, beside the blue carpet, you won't have any rough material?
That's exactly what I was wondering yesterday myself
I want the floor to be marble, and highly reflective, but the other white parts less so.
Honestly, I have no idea waht I am doing. I started off wanting to do something completely different than this, so it was planned to be chalkstone (if thats the english word), but now that no longer fits.
White painted metal?
Polyfibersomething?
Super duper alien material that behaves just like the properties I randomly happen to set the material to?
I should probably research a bit into this... Thanks for pointing it out
If you have any suggestions for sexy white materials, let me know!
Other wise, aluminum? Silver, Platinum, Titanium? With the correctly lighting it might also look nice.
Other wise, if you want to stick to marble, how about something like this?
I hope this helps.
Cheers!
I scaled the scene down, to match UE, and didnt notice until end of render how it affected stuff. So pardon the very big soft edges.
The throne, and that area in general, really needs some love..
It looks very different in Unreal, so a ton of stuff to tweak.
Want to break up everything being white.
Need to add some more material definition/separation.
And perhaps do a texture for something. Everything is still lowpoly, and we are mid feb :O
Wil wait a bit with the assets, still don't know where I am going.
Did a paintover to suggest something. Will have a look at it tomorrow with fresh eyes.
So, I panicked, took a random object from the scene, threw it brutally into ZBrush and clicked stuff.
Now I have a cube!
Will try to bake it in substance painter, get it into ue, and move on. Seems to be difficult just to finish this in time, for me
I spent the last couple of days watching tuts on the substance stuff. Now I have a base graph set up - i think.
So I can start texturing something, starting from next update
ah, didnt expand that rolldown earlier
Thanks, yet again!
Struggled to try getting some glass over that balcony thing, but I cant make it work.
Lighting seems a little red ^^
I should probably make a throne, at some point..
Have anyone tried substances not coming in as they are supposed to?
The green tubes near the throne are supposed to be gold, with a little of the green stuff to break spec. However, it comes in like this. I have tried both with exposed and unexposed parameters.
When it is exposed, it does not appear in UE, so I cant change it there either.
What am I doing wrong?
Any other feedback greatly appreciated as well!
Think tomorrow will be grading, lighting tweaks and post processing + whatever I can see when I look at this again tomorrow.
Any help is appreciated
These are my final shots, and will be the ones I submit in just a sec
