Hi guys... I may need your suggestions... I guess a lot of job seekers may come across the similar situation with me so I desperately need some suggestions for it. I send out a job application yesterday and found out today, I put a wrong company name in the cover letter. I should mention the company's name for several times but there's one place that I messed up with another random name... It seems the job application system doesn't allow me to make any changes. What should I do to make it up? Simply resubmit it or change an e-mail address and do the same? I'm worried... Looking forward to all your suggestions! Thx a lot!

Resubmit it if possible. Accidents happen and most recruitment companies are understanding that when people apply, they apply to multiple places at once.

This is a little tricky. After I submit the first time, it gave me a "your submission went through" but there's no e-mail reply for confirming so. The second time I submitted the changed one and it's still the same situation. I don't even know if my submission is coverred or I've started a new submission...

Chances are, they skipped over your application pretty damn quickly when they saw that. If you wish to resubmit, make sure it's an entirely new cover letter, completely re-written, focuses on that particular studio. Don't just swap out the wrong name. Make it look like it's their studio you want to be at. not some shotgun approach to applications.

I've done this before. Usually have a sense of humor and say Hey Ce55109, thanks for your interest, but we're not X. ;)

Not really something that will make or break you.

Well, the secret's already out that you've copy pasted words from another cover letter to a different company so the damage is done already. Depending on how good a humour they have, plus if they really like your portfolio/show reel then they'll look over it.

Best lesson to learn is from this is proof read your emails you send out. You don't want to regret words you might have said in an email since once it's out in the open, you won't be able to take it back.

Is copying cover letter really that damaging? I sounds so trivial... usually when I'm asked to review some applicants I go straight to their reel. I don't even read their applications.

imo if your work is good they'll overlook it, if your work isnt good then it doesnt matter anyway. I once had a situation where the application email i send triggered a spam email to the company trying to sell them cheap computer parts and they still interviewed me!
