Hi all,
Thought I'd start a wip thread for my latest project
My aim is to create an airship dock in UE4. I haven't got much experience doing next gen art for games so thought this would be an ideal project to start as there is lots to sink my teeth into. Of course any and all crit is welcome!
I want to create a functional environment. Something that, if it did exist, would actually work in terms of where cargo is stored, where ships moor up, transport links to the city, etc. I also like the idea that the dock area has been built on top of a previous civilisation. Having the previous civilisation literally supporting the new might be a nice aesthetic.
The main look I want to achieve is that it is not a new place and that it is constantly being adapted and repaired by the inhabitants. Perhaps they're reinforcing the old stone supports or extending piers. Lots of wood, rope and fabrics.
That's enough introduction, watch this space for updates!

I wanted a two tier dock. The upper deck is where ships moor and load, while the lower deck is used for storage of goods in the loading process. From the upper deck there is a route to the city and from the lower there is a route to the warehouses. There is also a lookout above the dock.
The previous civilisation I wanted used large stone supports and gateways and the dock has been built around. The gateways lead to places of importance (city/warehouses). Laputa castle in the sky was an influence for this
Have a look at the image below for the initial block out. The pink cube sin the image are the height of a human and the creates are 1x1x1m cubes.
