I haven't used Maya for a couple years and I'm getting back into it. I still have mj poly tools but was wondering what else is out there that I should add...
Nightshade UV, Nightshade Blockout, FroXnormal (if you bake in xnormal), Get Bent, making yourself a custom marking menu with modeling tools that you use often or setting up hotkeys for them - don't know any other good ones for modeling, but then again, I swapped to Modo for the modeling process :]
Advanced Renamer, by Rod Green. - Batch/Pattern rename tool. Duplicate Along Path - Unfortunatly does not work in Maya 2016 but if you are on an older version, get this script. fRay Boolean Master - Better boolean operations froRetopo3 - Retopology tool rockGen v1.0 - Rock generator. It's mediocre, but the best free one available. It's decent for creating base meshes. vertexNoise v1.0 - Vertex randomizer. Nice to have for organic stuff. xyShrinkWrap v0.1, by Imre Tuske - Shrinkwraps a mesh onto another mesh (such as a detailed plane onto a curved surface).
I'm not a Maya user, but I think you should work with the default Maya tools first, and then install useful scripts whenever you actually need something to ease, speed up or automate certain processes in the pipeline.

So what are you trying to accomplish so we can narrow things down a bit.
