Hi there!
We are a team of two artists. erelar will do concept work and I’ll do 3D stuff.
Our main idea is to fuse two opposite styles for this challenge. A throne room of almost basic/prehistoric stone shapes pierced by remains of superior alien technology, as if our ancestors built this long lost edifice upon much greater alien relic.
A reference sheet to back this up a bit.
We’re still experimenting with ideas. Here are a few variants for the throne.
Good luck to everyone!
Software we'll be using:
Photoshop
3DS Max
ZBrush
xNormal
Substance Painter/Designer
Unreal Engine 4

A few other concepts with 2nd throne idea. Now we can choose our way.
The viewer can lose overly detailed object in the scene.
absolutely! looking forward to seeing more wip
We think that the key element (KE) of the environment - the throne has to be described and thought over first, the rest of the environment will be built accordingly to the KE. Therefore, the overall composition will gradually flow from the KE and will be intact with it. We think that it is rather easy here to lose the KE in the scale and complexity of the environment, so we are not bothering ourselves with the rest of the environment for now.
Cheers!
workin on them right now.
Here's a litl update - basic blockout in UE.
Long time no see, but we are still here and we are still at it! I know it has been a while since our last update but we are just that type of people who do not like to show the work half done.
We are at the stage of finale tweaking and adding minor details.
You're absolutely right, but at the of a day we look at our work and say: we just add this litl thingy here and show it! - and it repeats the next day.:(
