Hi guys,
This is the low poly game asset I created during four weeks workshop in CGSociety.
It is real time render in Marmoset. The concept was provided by the course mentor.
Hope I can get some feedback from you guys.
Thanks:)
Very nice! Though when I first saw it, I thought it was just the lid of a crate. I can see where the hinges are but I can't really figure out exactly how it would open. Do you have a concept image you were working with that might show the mechanics?
Agree with Marshkin. I don't know where the design for this came from, if it was your idea or one that you found/were provided with...but It doesn't look like a crate...it just looks like a fancy buildup of sci fi details. It does look like its just the lid.
Overall though, its looking pretty nice. I'd say you could have loosened up some of the edges, specifically on the light grey metal bits. On some of the trimming, you have some nice beveled looking edges that catch a nice highlight, but for the light grey parts, the cornering is so tight that it looks razer sharp/low poly esque. You could bevel those edges, or if you did that in your high poly...widen the bevel so its a bit exhaggerated on those parts.
It's a nice execution. A shame the concept wasnt better, as other point out, it doesnt quite read as a crate, and even if it is, what can you store in it? 5 pieces of paper? :O
Have you considered pretending it is a lid, and make the rest of it?

to skyline5gtr, .Wiki: I updated the link and it should work now.
to Marshkin, gsokol, nastobi123: the concept was provided by the course mentor. I Agree that it seems not very functional as a crate.
