THRONE ROOM - The Temple of Heaven - RedVanda and Kellyk7

Hello everyone!

We are a group of two 3D artists who will be submitting a progress thread of our piece here!
For our Throne Room, we were inspired by the oriental world, mainly by their colours and forms. We will be keeping within the realms of Asian culture with a hint of fantasy to bring it to life.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated to help us improve and feel free to ask any questions!

The overall theme is interesting! If I'm seeing it right The water at the base is a cool idea, it would be interesting to make use of that space and fill it with some Koi or other such creatures. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

A more defined mood board for the throne itself!

A quick sculpt of the koi that will go in the pond, along with some colour variations. The main colours for this throne room will be red and gold. Feel free to post your thoughts on which colours are best to go with the throne as any feedback would be great!

Testing out textures and getting some practice with Substance Designer. The plan is to add in pebbles / stones and more colour variation at a later stage with SD.




I Also made a start on the pillars, below is a WIP shot of the high poly and reference images. Main inspiration was taken from Studio Ghibli's 'Spirited Away'however the main concern is it looking out of place so may do two different versions and play around with it.

Redid the pillars to fit the theme more. This is just a preview shot to check the texture. Used splines to create the pattern and baked down to create the texture. (Ignore the seam and the normals need fixing as some information has been lost)

Will be adding the extra details next.
