THRONE ROOM – Valhöll – emckenney & bpanting

We are really excited for this comp. Not only to compete with our own entry, but to see what everyone else creates. The talent level on polycount is amazing to say the least.

Our entry will be a stylized take on a viking mead hall/ throne room. We went with "Valhöll" for the name of our entry, which to the best of our knowledge is old norse for House of the Slain.

Here is my first run at a concept sketch for our scene.

Practice beam. Trying to get cleaner edges on the grooves and slashes. Any tips or brush suggestions would be appreciated. I mainly used the trim dynamic, orb crack and clay build up brushes so far.

its looking good. once you get the lines go in there with the move brush and just pinch and pull some of the cracks together so they are not parallel. you can get some good stuff with the trim brushes with a hard edge in the cracks too.

lordsarum on here released some of his custom brushes a while back and my favorite is his crack bush especially for more stylized cracks.

Scampbell - Thanks for your tips and sharing the link to lordsarum's burshes. Good call on the move brush to get more variation in the flow of the cracks. Now I just have to wait to get out of work to try these.

Tiling wood texture W.I.P. for the main walls.

First attempt with Substance Designer. Much to learn, but really liking it so far. Next up will be applying it to a mesh in UE4.

Finally have something to show for the room. I started working on the main floor texture. Here is what I have so far. I still want to add a blend texture to lay over top of it.

Wasn't happy at all with the first stone block sculpt. Got some good tips from a few friends. Here is the new stone block sculpt.

Started working on a shield for the room during my lunch breaks at work. Here is the HP mesh. Just getting the low poly finished up and then unwrapping.
