THRONE ROOM Eternal Struggle

Hey guys,

My entry is called the Eternal Struggle. I will be working on it myself. The concept comes from a book series I started in 2012. I plan on putting together a throne room that utilizes angelic statues, marble stone, and accentuates the main character's personality. I can't wait to start showing it off!

This is just the concept floor and ceiling plan for my Throne Room Entry. The top is how I plan on doing the floor, and where I plan on having my props placed. The red is all carpeting, Circles are pillars, the Orange Stars are Torches, and the Ovals are candles. The Squares in in front of the pillars/right behind the Throne are Statues, while rectangles along the walls are doors or windows.

On the bottom, the large Grey Rectangle is a Support arch for the room, and the Layered squares are for Ceiling design. I am not moving into the concepting phase for my props. So I'm gonna be busy for the next several days.

So my particular method of constructing my concept art for this project is by making "Blueprints" of my various props, and architecture. Attached are the concepts for my archways/doors, and the pillars which will be within my Throne room. The Doors themselves will have golden wings emblazoned on them, and golden rivets with Dark Red-wood panels. The Pillars and the Archways both have a red Spiral pattern in them, while the Pillars will have golden wings at the top of them which are represented by the triangles.

I'm working on the front view layout of my Throne room still, as well as the Concept for the Statues that will Line the "Hall" of the Throne Room leading to the Throne. However, I did just finish what my windows will look like.

Started work on my Throne this morning. Attached is a picture of my reference image with a front and 3/4 view of what I have done so far in a High poly format. I want to finish the basic shape before I move into the finer details.

I've been working very dutifully on the Throne, and finally almost done. There is a Sword that Needs to be made however, before I am completely done, But so far so good. This is what it looks like now.

Finished my Throne for the Eternal Struggle. The floor plan is a little bland to me so I am going to try and re work that a little bit while I complete a few more of the props. Attached is the finished Product of my Throne build process, and just needs to be textured.

Still working diligently, this is an in progress shot of my Throne Room, without textures. My steps for this project are: 1. Concept, 2. Modeling, 3. Texture, 4. Placement, and 5. Render.

Hey everyone,

So I'm working on the doors that will be going into my Throne room, and I'm running into issues with spiral in the archway pillar. Mostly what I am having trouble with is trying to essentially cut out a section of the Spiral, so that I can place the door frame. Attached is a picture of it from the front view, and a close up of the issue itself.

Got it. Well in that case, here's my progress on the doors and the Archways they fit into.

My doorways are completely modeled now as are the decorative wall mounted swords. Going to be putting together the hanging Torches for effect, the Archway which divides the main walkway from the Pedestal which is home to my Throne is next, and then I will be moving onto texturing. Decided to scrap the statues, as I felt it was blurring the character line a little too much and at the same time thought they might be a tad on the ostentatious side of things. Below are the pictures of my completed Wall mounted sword and doorway as well as the small table which will be used as a home for my smaller candle holders.

So I know it's been a while since I posted my progress, but I finally decided to play around with Substance Painter. This is what my pillars look like after sweating bullets hoping I'd get it right.

These Banner Holders will be tilted at a 45 degree angle with the blades pointed upwards towards the ceiling. After these I will build the Sconce Lamps that line the hallway.

So I finally finished the Sword for the Throne. Took some time to get the textures where I wanted, and still running into an issue with Lighting on the blade, but overall it's pretty much done. In the picture is a Low poly render where you can see the various vertices and Edges which make up the object, and on the left is the final render. The Handle is a "Frog Leather" which I recolored black, the Silver is a basic Silver Material from Substance Painter, and the Black Onyx and Red Ruby Blade are the "Car Paint" material that has been tweaked. When this object is put with the Throne, you will actually be able to see through the blade to the Throne. Which will be VERY cool.

So the Throne for the "Eternal Struggle" Throne Room is complete. The Sword from the previous picture sits perfectly in the little silver stand in the front as seen below, and is a nice compliment to the Throne itself. The Cushioning on the Throne is made up of red Lizard Scale, and the Stone work on this regal chair are meant to show that the Sword, while complimentary, is not made up of the same materials. The Angel wing on the Right side is a white stone texture, and the red orbs are a slightly reflective "Ruby" texture.

Torches for the walkway, Now I need to decide how I am going to do the Flammable materials inside both these and the wall mounted Sconces, and create those. As well as a few more odds and ends. Almost done. Can't wait for placement, this feels like it's going to look GOOD.

Fully Textured Scythe banner holders. These will attach to the Pillars upon Placement, and the banner will hang from them when they are done in turn.

Been trying to get all the props, like the door seen in the picture, textured and ready for a full high resolution Render. As you can see with this door, It is far from a smooth process. Blender has a wonderful tendency when "Subdivided" ...to over do it a bit. The top half of the door is the section that has been FIXED for the subdivide Process, while the BOTTOM half, shows just how Screwy it can get. FUN STUFF...... *groan*

Finally finished the Doors and Archways after two days of repair work. Solved the.... For lack of a better description, Web-like structuring that occurred after the model was sub-divided. I also had to remove all the previously placed Steel and wood sections as they were causing part of the problem. I fixed the issue by removing all the polygons between the gold sections, as previously stated, and created a flat plane that I cut into the shapes I wanted and Adjusted them using the Loop cut tool in Blender as needed to get everything to sit properly after the sub-divide.

I know it's been a few days, but I wanted to get the last of the props done before I moved on to the final structure work of the actual room. So below, are the Candelabras, Candle Holders, Wall mounted Swords, and Pillar mounted Torches. After the coming structure work I'll be putting the particle effects together for the candle light, and Torch work.

Some light tests, and render tests of everything that has been finished and placed. With the exception of the walls. While the mesh in the wall is Finished, I'm having some issues with the textures for it. So I'll be fixing those soon. In the meantime, I hope you all enjoy the following pictures.

Light Render Test 3. All of the approximately 50 lights in the room are located where the corresponding Candles, Pillar Torches, and Walkway Torches will be. I also included Most of the final objects which have their corresponding textures. Again this is a low poly render, and each one took approximately 8 minutes 10 seconds to fully render. The bottom image lights have a low yellow tint, and orange tints. In addition, their luminosity has been adjusted to correspond with the varying sizes of the lights.

Finished the different sets of Stairs last night, as seen here. I haven't adjusted the lighting yet, the floor still needs to be finished, and I still need to put together the particle effects for the flame on the Candles and Torches. Almost done!

So, I've tried to avoid including the Ceiling in any of the Test Renders I've shared lately for the simple reason that all you would have seen is a gaping hole in the structure and a non existent grey void where a sky or ceiling SHOULD be. With that being said, I finally got done with the ceiling, and I placed the Scythe Banner Holders and Banners themselves. So without further ado, here is the Ceiling. The center is mirror polished ruby, ensconced by Gold and Stone.

Firstly, thank you for the compliment! To your question, I have a Facebook page where I share my images, and then use the base URL to share them here. The reply box has a share image button and I just click that and add the Image URL. There is also an Image code you can use, that can be found on page one of this thread.

So I have a couple of Sample Images for all of you after all of my hard work these last few days! There is still a little bit of correcting that needs to be done for it to be DONE DONE, but as of right now I would say we are on the Home Stretch! Enjoy!!! I am also going to be adding a background Skybox that you will be able to see out the windows. I'm thinking of using a Horizon at dawn kind of look to go with all of the candlelight.
