If any professionals/hobbyists can pop in (20 minutes from central London by train), even if its for a couple of hours then we would welcome you with open arms and would love to have you around, we have a PC with all the software ready for you. Just pop your name on the list - https://plus.google.com/u/0/events/ch4nr5flrq6jnftb9454q7fdi08?authkey=CMmd-eLD8qaXuwE

And this is where we will be for 48 hours.
If anyone's in Melbourne and still unsure, I think there are still tickets and even some paid-for supported tickets for those who can't pay for themselves. We've got something like 150 jammers this year!
Lots of tips:
* Sleep - you'll need it
* Be patient with people come day 2/3 - tell them if you need a break
* Take gear like you're camping, so pillows/sleeping bags and earplugs (snorers and nonsleepers), your own mug, cleaning necessities, warm gear to fight off air con, tissues, etc.
* Your first ideas after getting the theme will probably be similar to other people's first ideas. Do something special to you.
* Get your game ideas concrete on the first night and make a game you know you can get the mechanics done for in 2 hours. You might just get the game finished in 48 hours if you pick something simple enough. Ideally, whip up a game then test and polish and add assets to it. You shouldn't be adding new features after Saturday night if you want a fun Sunday.
* Have fun and talk to lots of people. Show your game off and get people testing it, and make sure you make time to go visit other teams and chat about their games, too!
I look forward to seeing what you create.
Its amazing when you see a game and the mechanic is so simple but yet the game is amazing, of the top of my head Thomas was Alone, Dear Esther, Monument Valley for example.

I'm going to be trying board game design this year. We shall see whether this turns out to be a wise decision.
Some more ideas, maybe a bit too complicated but awesome styles none the less.
