hello,
this will be the first time, I create something for a challenge - so please do not rip me apart - but when you do, please add some feedback, that helps me learning, hehehe...
I already own Substance Painter & Designer Indie and will use it of course.
Other apps:
B2M 3 for quick roughness maps and some teture-mixing/material creation
MODO Indie (801 SP3) & 3D Coat 4.5
Renderer will be Marmoset TB2
If I got enough time left, there will be some Vue and
WorldMachine involved (not sure about this one)
My throne(room) is inspired by Blizzard´s "Icecrown Citadel"
WIP shot will follow...
Hope, nobody else got this idea already?!
If so, please let me know.
Best Regards

greetz
a staircase...
Wear&Tear will be added in the next step and I will have a look at the space inbetween the
skulls... maybe I fill that with rnd stuff...
I am just re-doing the large pillars atm - because I took them further and I ended up getting a more "Gear of War" / "Necromonger" style... that´s not, what I wanted.
Stay Tuned!
Got two basic versions, one with a more stylistic approach, one more realistic. Those are without any color map or "real" spec/roughness map for now, but will prepare some soon! I will also tweak and improve the thickness/translucy map, when I come to the final texturing.
Small pillar nr. 1 is final and got a base textrure, created within Substance Designer - will be finalized in Substance Painter soon.
I also tweaked the ice material a bit more - I think I will go on with that for now and could be the RC, too
Last touches will be done soon (some break-up in dirt and overall
roughness + one nice glow-fx)
also got some snowy-mountain peaks ready for placing in the background of the scene...
edit: Ooops, forgot the image... here it is!
Cheers!
And yes, if this isn't meeting your goals then dropping out is probably the right idea. But make sure you're dropping out for the right reasons. I think you have a decent foundation of something here and it would be a good portfolio piece when completed.
Why not finish it?
EDIT : Remember too that there are almost 500 throne room threads ... not getting any feedback isn't abnormal. There's just so much out there.
my idea was to improve/build up some skills thru getting feedback.
I find it hard to "judge" my own "creations", so I hoped for feedback to see, if I should go on with
creating 3D assets, or better not.
Getting no feedback feels just like my work is not even worth to be "flamed"
hmmmm.
Maybe I can hope of some feedback from the "jury" (if I finish this project), not sure aboout it.
Thanks for your comment!
I will try to deliver some complete scene...
just a quick screen grab from Substance Painter...
The scene shows my own mountains in the background, the "icecrown" (the throne and such will be on top of it) and the diorama base for the icecrown-mountain.
hope you like it...
dont worry, this scen is not really composed and such... just wanted to put the things together, I created... for fun.
I think it will make up for a good scene in the end - at least that´s my hope ^^
Next up: the throne and some other stuff will be placed on top of the iceberg (and that will -finally- be the main "throne room" setting...
I keep you posted!!
I thought adding images with the "on board forum function" would be ok?!
What do you suggest? Link images from 3rd party web-services?
Can you recomment a good and free one? Maybe also Mac osx integrated?!
Cheers!
here is a quick screen grab from Substance Painter
Use imgur.com, and embed the image, I also recommend greenshot which is a screen capture program, that can automatically upload the image to imgur and will save the link to your clipboard.
