Hi guys i have been working of this project for a while for practice and experimentation on modelling techniques on 3dsmax. But i've hit a brickwall with my creativity and i need some help with modelling the hovering engine of the space bike. Also i really welcome ideas to shape that bike or suggestion about techniques because this is a project that i want to learn from and not a project that i want to have as a display.

So any kind of suggestion and ideas you got throw it at me and i'll be more than welcome to accept them.

Have you got any refs? If not i'd spend some time looking for what direction other people are going with stuff like this. What you've got looks pretty solid though. :)

yeah i have some ref hanging on my wall and also i'm looking on air plane landing gear parts and prosthetic legs. I like the looks of the prosthetic legs. Also an other ref that i'm using is the cranes mechanical parts.

But right now i try to figure out a way to make it aesthetically look nice but also look functional

OK those sound (and look) like pretty decent refs :)

If you're looking for functionality, try grabbing any old rigged character with normal proportions and whack him on the bike, it should help for working out distances to controls/ pedals etc. You might want to think about what controls would be needed, tilt, throttle, altitude etc, and try different positions of them out.
When you've got that down work on the aesthetic side :)

JSYK I've never actually worked on vehicles before, so these tips are just random suggestions I'm throwing out there that i think might help :)

i just did some work using a character as a reference. The size is ok the only problem i had was that the legs where clipping inside the bike. but now i fixed it. But i think it still needs to do some work on shaping the whole bike again.

Sorry for not posting for a while. I was busy. I just started Uni and I'm quite busy there. But I have been doing some work with the space bike too. My main focus is the levitating engine and it's taking me so long because I don't have any main direction and I don't have any solid reference of futuristic mechanism.
