I'm using MAYA's transfer maps to generate some normal maps for my antique trunk asset.

The issue I'm having is the black faces that are generated on the normal mapped body when I've baked it all out. Not sure what's going on here at all.

I've checked the normals on both the hi-res and lo-res bodies but they all seem OK.

The normal map works OK when I use object space but I want to use tangent space which produces the results shown above.

I've checked the normal map envelope and that covers all of the geometry so that should be OK.

Hopefully someone will know what causes this error and can point me in the direction of a good solution. I could manually replace the area of the normal map but I am trying to learn a good workflow and I should really track down the cause of this error for my own education.

Thanks in advance! Please let me know if I can provide any more information that might help.
