Hey there,
I'm using 3D-Coat to do projection painting (with "Project Through" enabled) right now, and I'm having an issue that seems to be caused by some overlapping (islands?) on the M4A1S's UV sheet.
What I'd like the front grip to look like here (view from PhotoShop):
What happens when I save in PS and my work is updated in 3D-Coat:
Looking at the UV in PS, I noticed there's some overlap on the top section of the front grip:
If I had to guess, I'd say that might be mapped to geo underneath/inside the front grip, maybe the barrel or something.
EDIT: yeah, it's part of the barrel inside the front grips. I hid some of the polys on the front grip to take a peek inside and this is what's inside:
Is there a way I can stop this from happening?
Perhaps by disabling "Project Through" and then manually painting the left and right ortho views of the front grip?
If I was to try and move that small overlapping section on the UV sheet, would that work/be safe.. if that doesn't screw up the mapping when I import the VTF into CSGO...
I'm very fresh to texturing/UV stuff, so any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks!
EDIT2: The M4A1S Asiimov has detail work on the front grip, so obviously Coridium was able to work around whatever issue I seem to be facing here, so that at least inspires hope!

This involved (in 3D-Coat's UV room) grabbing the section for the internal barrel, moving it away from the front grip UV islands into some open space, and then rearranging a few things to get it to fit nicely without any new overlap.
I then applied the new UV to the model in 3D-Coat and was able to continue doing projection painting without any other major issues!
Testing the final result as a VTF imported in CSGO, I discovered that my changes to the UV sheet layout didn't apply, but that seemed to be OK so far since the only thing I needed to do was move a few things around and the positioning didn't really affect the old/standard UV sheet arangement. This makes sense since the UV mapping cannot change on the original M4A1S used in-game.
