Hey All- I am looking for a full time 3D technical artist- someone who is flexible from python to hard surface modeling, rigging to makerbots. We have a super fast paced environment working from concept to prototype, and on the regular you will be tasked with prepping 3d models for everything from export to unity for interactive experiences to taking those same models through our various 3d printers...cool right :poly142:

The purpose of STW is to accelerate development and deployment of technology for Shell by leveraging the Boston-area tech ecosystem of companies, research organizations, incubators, entrepreneurs and academics. STW is set-up in such a way that it creates the feeling of a start-up company; the organization works to solve diverse problems in the oil and gas industry and is responsible for the development of innovative technical solutions through the full product lifecycle: from first-of-a-kind prototyping to product deployment.
The Technical Artist is a key member of STWs Visualization Team, providing technical support to visual designs that enhance STWs ability to effectively communicate internally and externally regarding current or proposed technical project solutions, as well as to articulate the STW brand, mission, vision and core capabilities. This is a detail-oriented, hands-on role, working as a collaborator and technical bridge between the Visualization, Engineering and Program Management Teams to help develop tools, scripts and content for 2D and 3D animation and other media creation. The position requires excellent analysis, visualization and coding skills, creativity and applied knowledge of usable design principles, with the capability to work alongside diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders throughout all stages of the production pipeline process.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Bachelors degree in Computer Animation, Fine Arts or other relevant area of study and/or equivalent job experience
Possess a tinkerers mentality, fascinated by diverse technologies (like Oculus Rift, Arduino, MakerBot, etc.) and how it can be used or modified to creatively solve stated or unstated problems/needs
5+ years of experience as a technical artist in gaming or other relevant industry, etc., prior experience in engineering or highly technical organizations is a plus
Able to deal with multiple media formats and outputs, comfortable with working from code to video
Capable of understanding highly technical concepts and how to translate those concepts into 3D designs that can communicate to diverse audiences
Possess detailed knowledge of the production pipeline process for delivering rich media content
Experience working with game engines such as Unity3D or Unreal
Experience using Maya, MEL, Python, etc.
Experience with code writing for web deployment of rich media, technical setup of 3D for educational content and multiple platform delivery
Demonstrated design and layout know-how, with proven ability to work outside of comfort zone and adapt to challenging and fast-paced working environment
