Anyone know a program that could track the amount of time spent when an application is maximized or on top? I want to know how much time I spend in Photoshop and stuff. like this http://www.ellenfinkelstein.com/acadblog/track-time-spend-drawing/ but for multiple applications.
Manictime is a good suggestion, it does what you want and possibly more. It can tell you how much time you spent on certain websites too. Or how long you work on certain documents. It really tracks a crazy amount of data.
But do you really want to know how little time you actually spend in your "productive" programs? For me it was rather depressing and I finally gave up on tracking such things ^^.

I felt the opposite way when I saw it. It was a good insight into exactly what was eating my time. I was like, shit, I just need to spend less time on "x" site in the future and then maybe I can split that gained time between games and work. It wasn't an instantaneous change, but I do like seeing how much in-app work I get done, or how much I can get done.
