I start by identifying the character, take Mai. For instance, she's a rowdy girl, assertive, partly Tom boyish, and tends to provoke or show off.
What I do next is I make poses that show that at best. What helps is their classes, brawler in her case let's me pose her like a fighter in some ways.
I did that for all the characters as best as I could. In brief, I portray their personality beforr their class.
